Rare Beer Schedule

Mikkeller Barrel Aged Breakfast
First Pour: 2:15pm

This beer was aged in bourbon barrels for close to three months before packaging. This was the second time the barrels had been used as the brewer wanted the bourbon profile to be moderate. Big Beers is featuring 1 of the 180 cases of this beer that hit the shores of the United States.

Hoffstetten Granite Bock Aged in Whiskey/Pinot Noir Barrels
First Pour: 2:30pm

This extremely rare beer was produced by Brauerei Hofstetten in the historic style of a “Stone Beer” (or Stein Beer). The Granit Bock is brewed in large granite open troughs. Additional granite stones are then heated to be white hot and added to the wort. This causes the sugars in the malt to caramelize around the stones and gives the beer lovely caramel and roasted flavors. It also gives the Granit Bock a unique smoked flavor. After fermentation this beer was then maturated for over three months in French-coopered oak barrels from Ransom Winery & Distillery in Oregon. The barrels were originally used for maturing Pinot Noir and then used to age the distillery’s whisky for an average of one year.

Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout

Canadian Breakfast Stout is an Imperial Stout brewed with a blend of coffees and imported chocolates, then aged in spent bourbon barrels that have most recently been aging pure Michigan maple syrup. The final product has had stellar reviews and is currently the fifth highest rated beer in the world on www.BeerAdvocate.com.

Sierra Nevada / Dogfish Head Life and Limb
First Pour: 3:30

Life & Limb is a 10% ABV strong, dark beer that defies style characteristics- brewed with pure maple syrup from the Calagione family farm in Massachusetts and estate barley grown on the Grossman “farm” at the brewery in Chico, CA. The beer is alive with yeast-a blend of both breweries’ house strains-bottle conditioned for added complexity and shelf life, and naturally carbonated with birch syrup fresh from Alaska.

Alvinne Melchior in Calvados Barrels
First Pour: 3:45pm

Ale brewed with mustard seeds and aged for 6 months in Calvados barrels that contained cognac for 10 years and calvados for 8 years. The barrels were found at a local farm in France.

Hanssens Experimental Cassis
First Pour: 3:45pm

Funky, sour, ale brewed with currants and aged in oak barrels. This lambic is truly not for the uninitiated in the realm of funk and sour. The smell is highly acidic and funky. The flavor is much the same with hints of wood, earth, and black currant.

Stillwater Import Series Vol. 4 Rule of Thirds
First Pour: 4:00pm

Brewed at Sint Canarus and is a hoppy triple. 3 fermentables, 3 hops, 3 yeasts.

Stillwater Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Stateside Saison
First Pour: 4:00pm

Aged for 9 months in freshly emptied Chardonnay barrels and re-fermented with multiple strains of Brettanomyces.

Stillwater Burgundy Barrel-Aged Cellar Door
First Pour: 4:00pm

Ale brewed with white sage, aged in oak wine barrels.

Founders Blushing Monk
First Pour: 4:00pm

Essentially an “Imperial Rübæus,” this ale contains four times the amount of raspberries as Rübæus and is fermented with a Belgian yeast strain.

Hoppin Frog Barrel Aged Naked Evil BBW
First Pour: 4:15

A recent trip to Belgium was Fred Karm’s inspiration for this Oak Aged Belgian Barley Wine.

Hoppin’ Frog Boris Royale
First Pour: 4:15

This is a special version of Hoppin’ Frog’s highly acclaimed BORIS that has been aged in Canadian Whiskey barrels.

Bolleville 2009 in Calvados Cask
First Pour: 4:30pm

Belgian Dark Strong ale aged 6 months in Calvados barrels that contained cognac for 10 years and calvados for 8 years. The barrels were found at a local farm in France.

La Trappe Oak Aged Quad
First Pour: 4:45pm

A batch of the special series from Koningshoeven. This version of La Trappe Quad has been aged in various oak barrels before being blended.
